Shane House, CCDT-MT
My love for animals and dogs especially, has been with me since I was just a kid. I had every book about dogs and dog breeds you could think of and had them memorized by heart. It was my dream to “grow up” and have a zoo and work with animals. I still don’t have my zoo yet but I’m working towards one in my home at this point with four dogs, three cats and over a dozen crested geckos too.
I have always been in love with the German Shepherd Dog ever since I was young. I grew up watching Rin Tin Tin and wanted one of my own. I got my first German Shepherd Ranger who brought me into the world of dog training and really understanding dogs. I now have four German Shepherds and the rest is history! (And my fiance and I are expecting a border collie in the near future)
I’ve gone on to win titles with my dogs in various competitive obedience venues and now my passion is competing in Schutzhund, a sport that includes scent tracking, obedience and protection. Even getting a title and competing is great fun- the absolute best thing of all, is just having really well balanced dogs at home that we enjoy in our everyday life.
Dogs we hang out with, walk with and play fetch at the lake are the reasons my fiance and I love them the most.
It wasn't always this easy though.
I went through a lot of struggles with reactivity, fear and even aggression. My rescue dog Xena came to us very timid and scared of everything, especially people. It's been a long road getting her to just “feel better” about life. That's what makes me so passionate about helping my clients with these same struggles. I know you can have the same kind of changes with your dog and I can really relate to how you (and your dog) feel as you go through the process.
My goal is not only to help you achieve “obedience” with your dog but to also achieve happiness and a strong relationship of trust in each other. I want you to truly enjoy your dog and every part of being a pet owner all the time, every day- not just when your dog is in obedience mode.
