is honored to be able to offer a
Free Veterans Service Dog Training Program.
This program is our way of giving back to the men
and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.
What's Included:
- 8 private training lessons
- A $2,750 value at no cost to the veteran
- A free assessment of your dog before starting
- ADA aligned service dog training guidance
- Certificate of Completion by Cold Creek Dog Training
Start With a Free Assessment:
Before beginning the program, each veteran and dog must complete a no-charge assessment with a Cold Creek Dog Training trainer. This allows us to evaluate the dog’s temperament, current skills, safety, trainability, and suitability for service dog training. The assessment also gives us a chance to learn more about the your needs as veteran and training goals and get to know you.
Other Important Information:
A service dog must be individually trained to perform tasks that assist a person with a disability.
Cold Creek Dog Training provides professional training and guidance, but no private training company can legally “certify” a service dog under federal American Disabliites Act (ADA) law.
Dogs must be safe, under control, and appropriate for public access work.
***Training is available free within 30 miles of our Gettysburg training center- there is a $100 for travel outside that service area.
Special Note for Franklin County, Pennsylvania Veterans:
Through our relationship with the Franklin County Veterans Affairs Office, eligible Franklin County veterans may be able to receive reimbursement at $100 per lesson for in-person training sessions that take place outside the 30-mile radius of our Gettysburg training center.

ADA Guidelines: Cold Creek Dog Training follows the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidance for service dog training. Under ADA law, there is no federal certification required for a service dog. However, the dog must be trained to perform specific task or task(s) related to a person’s disability and must behave safely and appropriately in public.
